Common questions
Who can change document numbering?
Only an admin. Settings → Numbering is not shown to other roles.
What does Digits mean in a sequence?
How many digits the running number has. With prefix INV- and 4 digits the numbers read INV-0001, INV-0002 and so on; the live preview shows the format before you save.
Can I continue numbering from my old software?
Yes. Set Start From (or Current No. on an existing sequence) to the last number you used, and the next document continues from there.
Should invoice numbers restart every year?
GST requires invoices to run in one consecutive series per financial year, up to 16 characters. Many businesses put the year in the prefix, such as INV/26-27/, and start a new sequence each April.
