What is in the Excel invoice format
Supplier and buyer blocks with GSTIN and state, invoice number and date, customer PO number, and twelve item rows. Each row works out the taxable value from quantity × rate, the GST at the rate chosen (0, 5, 18 or 40%), and the line total; the foot splits the tax into CGST and SGST for a sale within the state.
Rules for a valid tax invoice
Number invoices in one consecutive series per financial year, up to 16 characters. Show IGST instead of CGST + SGST when the supplier and the place of supply are in different states. Businesses above ₹5 crore turnover must also generate an e-invoice (IRN and QR code) for B2B sales.
