How to Create a Work Order and Job Cards
In short
Go to Manufacturing → Work Orders → Create Work Order, enter the product, planned quantity and operations, and save. Release to Production creates a job card for each operation; each job card goes Start → Submit for QC → QC Pass or QC Fail.

Step by step

Create the work order
Go to Manufacturing → Work Orders and click Create Work Order. Enter Product Name and Planned Quantity (required), and choose the Project — needed for job cards to be created on release — plus BOM, Work Center, scheduled dates, Status and Priority.
- 2
Add operations
On the Operations tab add each operation with Operation Name and Planned Qty, and optionally Planned Duration (min) and Assigned To.
- 3
Save
Click Create Work Order.
- 4
Release to production
Open the work order and click Release to Production. It moves to In Progress and a job card is created for each operation.
- 5
Work the job cards
In Production → Job Cards each card goes Start → Submit for QC → QC Pass (completed) or QC Fail (rejected).
- 6
Finish
Click Mark Done on the work order when all operations are complete.
Common questions
Why were no job cards created when I released the work order?
Job cards are created on release only when the work order has a Project and at least one operation on its Operations tab. Add them and release again.
What are the job card statuses?
A job card is started, then submitted for QC, and ends as QC Pass (completed) or QC Fail (rejected). That record shows who did each operation and how it ended.
Can I create a job card without a work order?
Yes. Production → Job Cards → New Job Card lets you create one directly for a project and equipment, with quantity and planned dates.
