Where it sits among shipment statuses
A typical sequence is: Dispatched (goods have left the sender) → In transit (moving between cities or hubs) → At warehouse or hub (waiting near the destination) → Out for delivery (on the last-mile vehicle) → Delivered (handed over and signed for). 'Delayed' or 'Delivery attempted' can appear when something goes wrong.
The difference from in transit is the stage, not the speed: in transit can last days across several hubs, while out for delivery is the final leg, usually within the same city.
Out for delivery but not delivered
Common reasons are a wrong or incomplete address, the receiver not reachable on the phone, the gate or stores closed, the vehicle running out of time on its route, or unloading equipment not being available for heavy goods. The status usually changes to 'attempted' and the shipment is tried again the next working day.
For B2B goods, give the driver a site contact, the receiving hours and whether a crane or forklift is needed — most failed deliveries of machinery and panels come down to one of these.
Tracking it in your own dispatch
For your own shipments, the status is only as good as the person updating it. In CRE8Rx ERP, Dispatch → Logistics records a tracking number, vehicle number, driver, current location and estimated delivery for each dispatch, with the statuses Dispatched, In Transit, At Warehouse, Out for Delivery, Delivered and Delayed, so sales and the customer get the same answer.
Example
A panel builder in Pune ships an LT panel to a site in Mumbai. Day 1 the challan is made and the truck leaves (Dispatched). Day 2 it waits at the transporter's Bhiwandi godown (At Warehouse). Day 3 morning it is loaded on the local truck with the site engineer's number (Out for Delivery) and is unloaded and signed for by 2 pm (Delivered).
