How to Transfer Material Between Units

In short

Create a challan at Dispatch → Challans → New Challan with Challan Type Material Transfer (Unit to Unit), choose the From Unit and To Unit, and add the items — from the item master or typed in. The challan prints as a stock transfer between own units, not a sale.

Go to Dispatch → Challans and click New Challan. Set Challan Type to Material Transfer (Unit to Unit).

  3. 3

    From and to

In place of the project, choose the From Unit (sending) and To Unit (receiving).

  4. 4

  6. 6

Common questions

Why don't I see From Unit and To Unit?

A material transfer needs at least two units. Add your factories, warehouses or sites under Masters → Branches (admin only) and they appear in the challan.

Can I transfer material that is not in the item master?

Yes. Type it in the box under the item picker on each line. It prints on the challan and PDF like any other line.

Is a unit-to-unit transfer a sale under GST?

The challan prints it as a stock transfer between your own units, not a sale. Whether GST applies depends on whether the two units have different GSTINs — branches in different states are treated as separate persons.
